We try to make it as easy as possible to get yourself a brand new, affordable business website but there are a couple of things you’ll need to do yourself.

One of them is register a domain name. This is important because your domain name is a business asset so make sure it’s registered under your name and you have full control over it. Also be wary of some website builder sites like Wix or Shopify that don’t allow you to transfer your domain to another registrar.

Registering a domain is quick and easy, can be done online and shouldn’t cost more than about $25/year (for a .co.nz). See our tips for choosing a good domain name.

Once your domain name is registered (allow up to 24 hours for the registrar to confirm the domain) it’s time to update your DNS settings to point to our hosting so we can start building your new website. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your domain registrar, go to your account and click on Domains. If you don’t know who your registrar is, you can look it up here.
  2. Click on the domain you just registered to edit the details.
  3. Go to the Name Servers section and modify the current settings to what’s shown below:

  4. Update and save your changes.

Let us know as soon as you’ve made the change so we can start preparing our hosting servers for your website. It can take up to 24 hours for the change to take effect.

If you’re having any trouble following these steps you can ask your domain registrar to help you – provide them with the nameservers listed below:

ns1.pogosticknz.com
ns2.pogosticknz.com

Already have email accounts on the domain name? In some cases, your domain name may already be connected to an email service like Google Suite. If this is the case, you will leave your nameservers unchanged, and instead update the IP address of your A record (contact us for details).
